Local events in aid of Helen & Douglas House

The events shown here are run by amazing local people in aid of Helen & Douglas House. From cake sales to comedy nights, we’re so grateful for the wonderful ways our local community shows their support. We rely almost entirely on public donations to provide our care, so these events truly make a difference to local children with life limiting illnesses.

The Ella East Memorial Cup

The Ella East Memorial Cup is a family charity fun day and football match held in memory Ella, who sadly passed away aged just 20 months after living with SMA. Ella would have celebrated her 10th birthday on 1st August 2026, so this special day is about celebrating her life, bringing the community together and raising money for Helen & Douglas House that supported Ella and her family throughout Ella’s life and in her final days.

There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy, including a bouncy castle, face painting, tombola, raffles, Name the Teddy, Beat the Goalie, games, food and a cash bar. There will also be fantastic raffle prizes for both children and adults. Entry is completely free, and all donations and proceeds will go towards Helen & Douglas House.
